Hi Everyone!
I can hardly believe that this is my very last week at Raymond High School. I will be going on a college visit to UNH with Cam and Katie on Thursday (thanks Jenni for the transportation!), and I will leave for Dartmouth directly after the visit. Tonight, we will be having a final dinner together at Applebees. Hopefully Cam and Katie, who could not come to the last dinner due to out of town commitments, will be able to come to this one. Thank you Tati for organizing everything! (Tati asked me if we were having dinner again last week, and when I said that I couldn't seem to get everyone's schedules together, she took my sign up sheet and told me she will be organize the event for me. I have to say, she was extremely effective (way more than me...) She was able to get everyone confirmed for a time within a day!)
I have had such a great experience at Raymond High School. The staff, teachers and administration have been very welcoming, accommodating and kind. The SEAD scholars have been all kinds of awesome. Personally, I've also grown significantly in my ability to establish relationships and consider others' perspectives. Thank you everyone for giving me a wonderful time here.
Now, some updates on the students! Last Friday was the much anticipated RHS junior prom. The SEAD scholars had been talking to me about it since the beginning of my time here. They each approached it so differently.
First, there was Jade, who definitely went all out for her prom experience. She had a dress specifically made for the occasion. She traveled to a nearby town multiple times to get it fitted. She also rented out a beach house for a after party with her close friends! She told me that prom really was great (though she had to get up early the next day to help her friend move), and I'm very happy that it lived up to her expectation.
Then, there was Wes, who took a girl that he has been seeing and arranged a perfectly coordinated outfit with her. He showed me a suit that he admired weeks before the events and said that he hoped to emulate the style. Well, as it turned out, he had the outfit down to pretty much the last detail. What's more, Wes ended up being crowned prom king! Congratulations to our very own RHS royalty.
Katie and Tati both went with the same large group of friends. While Katie had her dress picked out more than a month in advance, Tati still did not have a dress the day before the event. Tati also decided not to take a date, get her hair and nails done, or do any of the other "traditional prom activities". Tati was there to just have fun.
I'm going to miss all of you so much! (Luckily though, I will be on campus in the summer and will get to see you all during SEAD III.)
Until then!
Zan
